Title:
Drexel Elementary School
Creator:
Children of the Struggle Project
Description:
Drexel Elementary School was one of the historically white elementary schools serving the eastern side of Burke County during the era of segregation. While it did not have a direct connection to the activism of the West Concord Mothers, their push for educational equality in the early 1960s contributed to the broader desegregation efforts that eventually reached all public schools in the county, including Drexel Elementary.
